Dear Captain and members of The Border Nomads
On behalf of CHOC East London I’d like to convey our sincere thanks to all
you for the wonderful donation of furnishings, with the value in excess of
R35 000, to our CHOC house in East London. We are very aware that the funds
that you raise take many hours of planning, working and collecting. The fact
that you are all busy people with full time jobs makes one realize what a
wonderful team you are and the results of your efforts are absolutely
fabulous!
As you are all aware CHOC is a country wide voluntary organisation, which is
not Government funded, we provide direct practical help to children with
cancer, from diagnosis onwards, recognising the inevitable disruption to
family life when a child faces vigorous and often lengthy treatment. In East
London we work mainly from ward C5, the paediatric oncology ward, at The
Frere Hospital, however St Dominic’s have created paediatric oncology
facilities and we now have volunteers looking after their patients as well.
Our Danone Clover CHOC house is now fully operational. We have house parents
looking after the children and their care givers and with your assistance
the house is looking really stunning and has created great excitement
amongst our patients. With the excitement of this new venture comes many new
challenges like furnishing and decorating the home, providing children’s’
activities and funding the monthly running costs.
How privileged we feel to be the beneficiary of your wonderful donation - it
is just fantastic and is going to help us tremendously to provide a
wonderful “child friendly” atmosphere for our home.
Please convey our special thanks to Rob Cummings who spent a lot of time
assisting us with the purchases and arranging payment etc. Please feel free
to pop in any time and visit our CHOC house.
With grateful thanks.
